Winter in Charlotte

We've had our second dusting of snow in three weeks, and at our house we got a total of about 1/8" of snow, if that much. The first snow we got an ever so light dusting, and then last night we got enough that it pretty much covered the ground. Other parts of town received two to three inches both times.

Our first snow

This morning's snow

This morning the phone rang a little after 5:00, and it was a recorded message from CPCC notifying us that all day & evening classes were canceled. At that time, I wasn't aware that it had even snowed. I took Emily to work at 5:30, and the road in front of our house was perfectly clear. There was a light dusting of snow a couple of places down the road, but they were mostly clear. I 485 was clear as well, so I couldn't figure it out. There was a little ice at the first intersection I came to, but nothing they should cancel school for. My trip in to work took about the same amount of time as usual.

One of my co-workers, who lives on the SE side of town, said the roads were really bad near her house, and she saw several wrecks. Her normal 25 min. drive took an hour. When she attempted to stop at her first red light, she slid right through the intersection, thankful there were no other cars on the road.

It was in the mid teens this morning, and will be down to the low 20s tonight. But, we're in Charlotte, so it won't be cold for long. They are calling for the mid 50s on Friday, and well into the 60s this weekend. Gotta' love it.
